Crystal Window & Door supply efficient windows for Rise at Northgate

Crystal Window & Door Systems, the national award-winning manufacturer, has supplied over 1,000 energy efficient commercial aluminum windows and patio doors for a new mixed-used residential property serving Texas A&M University students. The 18-story Rise at Northgate is designed by Hill & Frank Architects and constructed by The Linbeck Group, both of Houston. The new 390,000 s/f structure offers 184 modern upscale, high-tech student apartments with 471 beds configured in 1- to 6-bedroom suites. "The Texas market is fairly new for Crystal Windows, but we are coming in with a bang," said Frank Ganninger, Crystal's Midwest regional sales manager. "Our window and door products offer tremendous value to developers, architects and builders for a wide variety of residential and commercial properties. The Rise at Northgate is one of many new projects we are supplying in the region." The Rise at Northgate student housing project uses both the new Crystal Series 2600 aluminum double-hung window and the Series 1240 aluminum sliding patio door. Perfectly suited for this residential application, the Series 2600 is a 3-¼" frame aluminum tilt-in window offering strong weather resistant test ratings, outstanding features and great value. The window is rated at both AAMA HC65 (42" x 78" test size) and AAMA CW-PG 50-H (gateway size). The top and bottom sashes feature aesthetically appealing equal sightlines. For added safety and convenience, the top sash anti-drift clip lock and the continuous full-width bottom rail clip lock automatically secure the sashes in the fully closed position. This eliminates the need for a traditional sash lock and adds a clean modern look to the window's meeting rail. The Series 1240 aluminum sliding patio door is a thermally broken 4-½" depth frame AAMA rated SGD-C40 quality product. Available in both 2- and 3-panel configurations, the 2-panel version of the Series 1240 was selected for The Rise at Northgate. Safe easy operation for the sliding door is assured through heavy-duty adjustable dual tandem ball bearing rollers, a strong locking handle, and a continuous full height pull rail on the operating panel. More The Series 2600 windows used ⅞" insulated glass units (IGUs) with dual panes of ⅛" thick glass, and the exterior pane tempered for extra strength. The Series 1240 sliding doors used 1" IGUs with dual panes of tempered 3⁄16" thick glass. To maximize energy efficiency, comfort and aesthetics in the strong Texas sun, both products' IGUs were ordered with grey tinted exterior glass lights and PPG's high performance Solarban 70XL coated interior glass. Rounding out the energy efficiency options, the IGUs were argon filled. All the Crystal products for the project have fibermesh half-screens and were finished with Crystal's durable VOC-free AAMA 2604 standard bronze color powder coat paint.
