ABS leases 4,377 s/f to Tandy Leather at The Box Factory

Queens, NY Tandy Leather has opened a flagship location at The Box Factory, 1519 Decatur St. in Ridgewood, (on the border of Bushwick), according to Ben Waller, partner at ABS Partners Real Estate, the building’s managing and leasing agent.

Tandy Leather’s flagship location will occupy 4,377 s/f on the second floor, joining Grand Central Atelier (at 11,500 s/f), the visual arts school.

Built in 1929 and named for its original use - making boxes for perfume and jewelry - the Box Factory was converted in 2017 to a mixed-use commercial building.

The building features restored industrial finishes, ceilings up to 18 ft. high, new oversized windows and skylights, all new mechanicals and bathrooms, plus a common outdoor seating area for tenants, and a bike room.

At 63,000 s/f over two stories, it has become a lively, modern hub for creative industries and content creators: a home to local artists, photographers, musicians and makers alike. Among its tenants are Pirate Studios, which occupies 14,000 s/f and comprises two dozen recording and rehearsal studios; and African Peach Arts, a nonprofit education and arts program dedicated to underserved communities.
