A&M's Laposa honored with American Real Estate Society award

According to global professional services firm Alvarez & Marsal (A&M), Steven Laposa, Ph.D., a principal with A&M's Real Estate Advisory Services group in Denver, has been named the inaugural recipient of The American Real Estate Society's prestigious Practitioner-Scholar award. This honor recognizes Dr. Laposa's contributions to the field of real estate throughout his 30-year career and reflects a body of thought leadership that is both highly regarded by real estate academics and adopted and utilized by practitioners. A past president and current board member of The American Real Estate Society, Dr. Laposa co-authored the first seniors housing and care investment treatise, and co-authored ground-breaking research on various international, industrial, retail, real estate cycles, and corporate real estate topics. He has advised government officials in Asia on urban planning, developed a global investment strategy for a Middle East-based client, assisted in the selection of countless corporate real estate site locations for Fortune 500 firms and delivered mass valuation models for private sector and domestic and foreign government entities. Dr. Laposa earned his master's in business administration in real estate and construction management from the University of Denver and his doctorate degree from the University of Reading, England in the Department of Real Estate and Planning. He is also a member of the Urban Land Institute, Homer Hoyt Fellow, CoreNet Global, and the International Council of Shopping Centers. In addition to authorship of a wide variety of industry articles and as a frequent presenter at international conferences, Dr. Laposa has held editorial board positions on six academic journals and has peer-reviewed numerous publications. He has also guest lectured at several of the top real estate programs in the U.S. Founded in 1985, The American Real Estate Society is an association of over 1,400 real estate thought leaders.
