Inch & Co. breaks ground on planned premier sports complex

York, PA Leaders from Inch & Co., WellSpan Health, and the York County Economic Alliance broke ground on what will become York’s future premier sports complex. According to organizers, a sponsorship for the naming rights has been established between WellSpan Health and Inch & Co. Once completed, the facility will be known as the “WellSpan Sports Complex,” powered by Inch & Co., with the health system serving as the official sports medicine provider of the facility.

Named after the project’s exclusive healthcare provider, WellSpan Health, the projected 243,000 s/f complex will be located on 13 acres at 275 E. Seventh Avenue and when completed will become one of the region’s largest indoor recreation facilities.

The WellSpan Sports Complex is designed to be a central hub for amenities and programming primarily focused on athletics, health, wellness, fitness, and events. The new facility will promote active living and provide inclusive access to healthier lifestyle options for all ages and abilities in the community, all backed by WellSpan’s renowned Sports Medicine program.

“We see a big need for what’s planned with this facility, and we hope that York County will love what is on the horizon for our community,” said Jeff Inch, CEO of Inch & Co. “Our focus will be to expand and strengthen the current offerings in athletics, health, and wellness and provide our community and members the opportunity to improve and sustain their emotional, mental, and physical well-being. In addition to the health-related benefits, the complex will be an activator for economic activity, enhancing York's identity as a regional destination. Beyond sports, the complex will be a versatile space for concerts, community gatherings, and wellness activities, making it a year-round resource for the York community.”

“Sponsoring this new complex and supporting the impact it will have on our community aligns with our mission of lifelong wellness and a healthy, vibrant York County,” said David Vega, senior vice president of WellSpan Health and Chief Medical Officer of WellSpan Medical Group. “WellSpan’s expert orthopedic and sports medicine teams are committed to assisting athletic programs across our region, similar to our partnerships with local high schools, colleges, and York Revolution. We are excited to support the thousands of athletes and community members of all ages who will use this new community facility.”

Currently scheduled to open in early 2026, the complex will provide access to a top-tier athletic facility and development programs. It is envisioned to offer a wide range of indoor experiences, including:

  • 70,000 s/f of include hardwood courts
  • Courts lined for eight basketball courts or sixteen volleyball courts, in addition to a variety of other sports, events, and activities that the space can accommodate
  • Multi-purpose dome to include 80,000 s/f of turf fields 
  • Membership fitness center and sport performance training space
  • Sports recovery and physical therapy center, including sports medicine, athletic training, physical and occupational therapy
  • Recovery services and chiropractic care
  • Conference and meeting rooms, as well as co-working spaces, and party and event rooms
  • Café, lounge, and apparel store
  • Tenant availability

Through the resources and services provided at the WellSpan Sports Complex, Inch & Co. intends to work with community partners focused on providing opportunities for a healthy, vibrant, and connected community. The Sports Complex is about creating a space that will offer residents and visitors a place to connect, stay active, pursue passions, and create lasting memories. Diverse programs and services will ensure that regardless of age, skill level, experience, or financial background there will be opportunities for children and community members to participate in activities that promote lifelong healthy habits. This focus reflects a commitment to equity and inclusivity, ensuring the facility's benefits extend to every corner of the community.
