Hunt of Hunt Corp. presented with 2013 Distinguished Citizens Award by SCCBSA

According to Hunt Corporate Services, Inc., David Hunt, president of the firm, was presented with the 2013 Distinguished Citizen Award by Suffolk County Council, Boy Scouts of America (SCCBSA) at an award ceremony and dinner on November 22nd, at Flowerfield. The Distinguished Citizen Award recognizes noteworthy and extraordinary leadership of citizens in their local communities. Since 1965, the Suffolk County Council has honored a list of Long Islanders such as Ward Melville, Robert Moses, Lee Dennison, John Kanas, Frances Gabreski, Clark Gillies and Marty Lyons. This year, in addition to Hunt, honorees also include Cathleen Hansen and Floyd Sarisohn. The annual dinner-dance is one of the major fund-raisers SCCBSA has during the year. "I was humbled by the award," said Hunt, a very active Scouting volunteer. "Anyone who has been involved in Scouting can attest to what a life-changing experience it can be for young people. Our world hungers for the leadership and values providing by Scouting, so I am very proud to be associated with one of the very best Councils in the United States. The Eagle Scout graduation rate of Suffolk County Council is twice the national average. Out of 281 councils in the U.S., we lead the nation in Scout advancement and rank 10th in Cub Scout advancement. We are the only council that has a special needs division! And our retention rate is 80%, the highest in the northeast region." For over a century the Boy Scouts of America has been the nation's foremost youth program of character development and values based leadership training. Good Scouting programs require resources and well trained volunteers. Suffolk County Council is only able to provide those resources and training through their fund raising efforts.
