Hunt of Hunt Corp. honored by Boy Scouts of America with National Silver Beaver Award

Plainview, NY David Hunt, CEO of Hunt Corporate Services, a commercial real estate practice, and Hunt Construction Services, was named a recipient of the Boy Scouts of America (BSA) Silver Beaver Award. This award is a recognition of service to the Boy Scouts at high levels and over long periods of time. Hunt, who earned Eagle Scout rank in 1967, is a vice president and executive board member of the Suffolk County Council, Boy Scouts of America. He is the founder and publisher of www.EagleCoach.org  providing information, instruction, resources and guidance to scouts on their way to earning the Eagle Scout rank. He is also a district advancement chairman, responsible for the advancement of 2,200 scouts. Hunt has received many BSA awards including the 2013 Distinguished Citizen Award by Suffolk County Council, the 2014 BSA District Award of Merit and a BSA James E. West Fellowship Award.

The Silver Beaver Award is a national award of the Boy Scouts of America. The BSA National Court of Honor grants the award to adult leaders who have made an impact on the lives of Scouting youth. The award recognizes the Scouting ideals exhibited out by the nominee in community service, devotion to the principles of Scouting, hard work, self-sacrifice and many years of service. Individuals cannot seek this award, as it is given based on an enduring personal dedication to Scouting. In the BSA world, silver is the top of the award hierarchy. Silver ahead of gold is an homage to the early 1800’s evolution of U.S. military insignias. 

Hunt joins historic figures who have been Silver Beaver honorees including the founder of the BSA and the 1st chief scout, British Army Lt. General Robert Baden-Powell, numerous Presidents of the United States from Howard Taft to today, Charles Lindbergh, Walt Disney, Hank Aaron, Admiral Nimitz, Nancy Reagan and Rex Tillerson, Exxon CEO and the United States Secretary of State.

Hunt has represented corporate real estate interests since 1973 and presides over one of the top commercial practices on Long Island. He received his bachelor’s degree from Georgia Institute of Technology and holds many professional designations including SIOR, CCIM, and Master of Corporate Real Estate (MCR). Among the many awards that David has received are the 2015 Industrial Broker of the Year from Long Island Business News, and both the 2015 Top Industrial Leasing Broker and 2015 Top Office Leasing Broker awards from CoStar. He is the author of numerous published articles, including a monthly column in the New York Real Estate Journal, and is a Platinum Level Expert Author at www.ezinearticles.com. 

Outside of his BSA and business activities Hunt has been the race director for the Great Cow Harbor 10-K Race, president of the Mid-Island Pilots Club, and a mentor for at-risk Walt Whitman High School students in the Earn and Learn program. Both he and his wife Judy are ordained ministers in One Spirit Interfaith. As a minister and businessman, he was awarded the 2012 Honoree of the Year by the UJA-Federation of NY. The Hunts live in Northport. Their son, Dr. Jonathan Hunt, lives with his wife, Andrea, in San Leandro, California.
