Howard Rowland: Where are we now, where are we headed, where are opportunities?

I still believe the future engines for development on Long Island are technology centers like Brookhaven National Laboratory, Stony Brook University, Farmingdale State Bioscience and Cold Spring Harbor Laboratories. This is where jobs will be created as well as the need for other real estate development. Housing, retail, and office development will follow the success for our technology centers. Maintaining the funding levels at these facilities and others like them is critical to future development on Long Island. Howard Rowland is the president of E.W. Howell Co., LLC, Plainview, N.Y.
