Honorio Jr. of Honorio Designs named IREM NYC Industry Partner of the Year

Carlos Honorio Jr.

Manhattan, NY The Greater New York Chapter of the Institute of Real Estate Management (IREM NYC) has named Carlos Honorio, Jr., founder of Honorio Designs Architecture, PLLC (HDA), as its 2025 Industry Partner of the Year, recognizing his contributions to New York City’s built environment and his collaborative approach to advancing the practice of professional property management.

Honorio Designs Architecture is a multi-disciplinary firm specializing in historic façade restoration, garages, building envelope preservation, and interior architectural design throughout New York City. While the firm itself is relatively young, it is built on a strong foundation — Honorio’s more than 20 years of hands-on industry experience, deep fluency in New York City’s complex building codes, and a steadfast commitment to delivering thoughtful, high-value solutions that enhance and preserve the city’s neighborhoods.

What distinguishes Honorio from many of his peers is a professional background that extends beyond traditional architectural training. Prior to founding HDA, he worked extensively as a building façade restoration contractor. This experience is not merely anecdotal; it is a defining advantage that informs his work today. His contractor’s perspective brings a heightened level of realism, accountability, and transparency to each project — qualities that resonate strongly with property managers and owners navigating the intricate coordination between architects, engineers, and construction teams.

In early 2025, Honorio Designs Architecture marked a milestone with the opening of an international office in Lima, Peru. The expansion was both strategic and deeply personal, honoring Honorio’s father’s childhood dream of becoming an engineer. Today, the Lima office serves as a hub for the firm’s work throughout South America, extending HDA’s philosophy beyond New York City while maintaining the same rigor, standards, and attention to detail that define its local practice.

Despite the firm’s growth, Honorio and his team remain grounded in a philosophy driven less by slogans and more by curiosity and challenge. When asked why they do what they do, the answer is simple and direct: “Why not?”

“Carlos brings a rare and invaluable perspective to every project,” said Jessica Tusing, CPM, chapter president of IREM NYC.

“Beyond his technical expertise, he has been a genuine partner to our chapter and our members — consistently supporting IREM NYC’s mission and values through collaboration, education, and a shared commitment to excellence in property management. He doesn’t just design solutions; he anticipates challenges, communicates clearly, and  helps property managers move projects forward efficiently. That level of engagement and partnership is exactly what this award represents.”
