Queens, NY According to Holt Construction Corp., LaGuardia Airport’s Terminal B headhouse renovation is completed. The $4 billion redesign and fitout of the arrivals and departures hall was originally launched in June 2016 and is the first full redevelopment of a U.S. airport in more than two decades. The Holt team, led by project executive Mark Phillips, worked closely with LaGuardia Gateway Partners, the private organization selected by governor Andrew Cuomo and the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey to deliver key features within the new terminal.
The new, 850,000 s/f headhouse facility features an open floorplan encased by a glass facade and 60-ft. ceilings. Its four floors include a new ground transportation center on the first floor and a new arrivals hall on the second floor. The third floor is home to airline check-in areas, while the fourth floor is home to shops, restaurants and the bridge connecting Terminal B to the main section of the airport. The structure includes check-in kiosks and security checkpoints, as well as a new lighted water display to welcome travelers.
Holt helped deliver a variety of spaces during this renovation, including restaurants such as The Brooklyn Diner, Mulberry, Think Coffee, Eli Deli, Dunkin Donuts, Spirit and Bell, Junior’s, Dos Toros, Tony & Benny’s, Hill Country Chicken, Green Leaf’s and Zaro’s Family Bakery, as well as the new Be Relax Spa, the Hudson Madison Ave Market and Hudson NYC Aglow for Hudson Groups.
“Holt Construction is honored to work alongside LaGuardia Gateway Partners on a historic renovation that will improve the travel experience for countless visitors and residents of New York,” said Chris Asaro, president of Holt Construction. “We look forward to seeing this facility serve the public for years to come.”
Holt’s previous work inside Terminal B includes lounges and high-end retail fixtures, including Maple Leaf Lounge for Air Canada, the New York City Toy Store, M-A-C, LaGuardia Duty Free shops, M-A-C, Irving Farm Coffee Roasters, Kingside Bar & Restaurant and Five Boroughs Market.
