Healthy Buildings, a sustainability and indoor air quality consulting firm based in Fairfax, VA, has opened an office in the city. Healthy Buildings will provide the city's commercial building owners and managers with sustainability consulting services as they set forth in reducing carbon emissions and complying with the requirements of PlaNYC 2030: A Greener, Greater Buildings Plan.
In addition to working with buildings to comply with local laws, Healthy Buildings works with companies to achieve competitive advantages and bottom line value by implementing corporate sustainability and green building programs. To date, the client list includes multiple building owners and managers, a large resort and casino in Las Vegas, and banking and manufacturing facilities. Services offered through the firms' new office include development of corporate sustainability programs; LEED certifications; benchmarking buildings'; training building occupants in environmental footprint reduction; and designing streamlined efficiency programs.
Sheinfeld, a LEED Accredited Professional and adjunct professor of corporate sustainability at the University of San Francisco, will direct Healthy Building's New York office. Sheinfeld brings a wealth of experience with degrees in Environmental Studies and City Planning, and has worked with companies across the country to develop strategic sustainability programs. Prior to her work with Healthy Buildings, Sheinfeld was the Manager of Sustainability Strategies at Cushman & Wakefield where she worked to develop the company's sustainability programs.
Healthy Buildings' NYC office is the fourth office to open in the US since the company's inception in 1980. The company's offices are in Virginia, California, New Jersey, and now New York City in addition to overseas offices in the UK, Ireland, and Australia.
