Melville, NY The American Institute of Architects (AIA) Long Island Chapter awarded architecture and engineering design firm H2M architects + engineers with a Lifetime Achievement Award at the 60th Annual Archi Awards ceremony.

The American Institute of Architects was founded in 1857 as a resource to build community, provide professional development opportunities, and elevate voices in architecture. Today, the Long Island Chapter’s signature program, the Archi Awards, recognizes and celebrates design excellence across various architectural disciplines. The Lifetime Achievement Award is one of the chapter’s highest honors, presented to individuals and firms that demonstrate sustained commitment to advancing architectural excellence, leadership, and innovation.

H2M’s executive vice president and chief operating officer Joseph Mottola, AIA, and deputy market leader Louis Giacalone, R.A., accepted the award on the firm’s behalf.

“When I first joined H2M, I knew I was in for an exciting challenge helping build an architecture department, from the ground up, within a well-established engineering firm,” said Mottola, reflecting on his nearly 40 years of working at H2M, starting when the firm first launched its architectural division in 1986.

“Looking back, I am incredibly proud of how much we have grown our architecture business while remaining aligned with the core values established almost 40 years ago. I’m still able to find passion and excitement in our work, which remains consistent with our mission of supporting our people, our clients, and our communities.”
