Binghamton, NY The Greater Binghamton Chamber of Commerce has joined The Manufacturers Alliance of New York, led by MACNY, The Manufacturers Association, to bolster manufacturing advocacy and workforce development in the southern tier region. The Alliance is comprised of nine manufacturing and business associations that leverage its strength to drive initiatives, influencing legislation, policy, and state funding.
“MACNY has had a powerful voice on the issues impacting and supporting the growth of our manufacturing sector in New York state,” said Stacey Duncan, CEO of the Leadership Alliance. “This partnership is critical now, more than ever, given the resurgence of domestic manufacturing and the positive momentum we’ve built here in the Southern Tier.”
The chamber is excited to join the Alliance, which includes additional representation from the Brooklyn Chamber of Commerce, Buffalo Niagara Manufacturing Alliance, Center for Economic Growth (Capitol Region), The Council of Industry (Hudson Valley), Ignite LI (Long Island), Manufacturers Alliance of the Southern Tier (MAST), and the Rochester Technology & Manufacturing Association. In addition to its advocacy efforts, the chamber will provide support to local manufacturers to develop Registered Apprenticeship Programs by facilitating their implementation and providing essential administrative support. By leveraging grants and specialized programs, the chamber plays a key role in strengthening the educational pipeline and addressing critical industry needs, including the development of a skilled workforce to combat talent shortages in advanced manufacturing.
“We are thrilled to join forces with MACNY to drive meaningful change for manufacturers in our region,” said Kevin Blake, chairman of the Greater Binghamton Chamber of Commerce board of directors. “Partnerships like this are an essential step toward diversifying the workforce and ensuring that individuals have access to the rewarding careers that manufacturing offers.”
Randy Wolken, president & CEO of MACNY, The Manufacturers Association, said, “With the addition of the Greater Binghamton Chamber of Commerce, the Alliance welcomes an amazing partner in helping build our state’s manufacturing ecosystem. The Southern Tier is known for its enduring culture of innovation. With recent federal investments and a strong industrial base, the Chamber deepens the Alliance’s ability to serve New York State’s manufacturers and workforce.”
