Glen & Company Architecture designs Zini Boutique's first U.S. location

New York, NY Architectural and interior design firm, Glen & Company Architecture, has designed international retail clothing store, Zini Boutique’s first U.S. location in New York City. Constructed by Andrew Liebhaber, owner of Liebhaber Construction, the interiors were designed to showcase the brand’s Greek heritage, while incorporating downtown’s trendy and chic style. Zini Boutique is located on Bleecker St. in the old James Perse store, and is set to open this fall. Glen Coben, founder and owner of Glen & Co. Architecture, along with his team designed Zini Boutique to reflect the style and spirit of the boutique’s Greek and modern roots, while incorporating stylish elements to keep in tone with the downtown neighborhood. Glen & Co. was inspired by the freshness of the Greek culture and designed the intimate store to channel the country’s light spirit and style. “It was a great opportunity to design the space for Zini Boutique’s first U.S. location here in New York City” said Glen Coben. “Our main goal with the design of the project was to create a space that reflected the freshness of Greece, while maintaining the sass of sophistication of the New York clientele.” Throughout the interiors, Glen & Co. utilize white as its primary color, which creates a soft and soothing space to reflect the Greek lifestyle. Contrast is incorporated throughout with steel custom made, black retail fixtures. The ceiling is designed to mimic a barrel vault to soften up the hard lines of the walls, while exposed brick serves as an accent wall delivering natural elements and texture. Upon the brick wall is a fireplace, which was restored to its original condition offering a residential and warm feel to the boutique. Zini is a brand where all women can fulfill all of their fashion needs, for all occasions. Focusing on quality, the company procures raw materials from the best suppliers in the world. The design department doesn’t just follow trends, but creates fashion, making Zini a leader in its class. Zini operates 11 stores throughout Greece. Zini has decided to make its new home where the heart of fashion beats; New York. Knowing that this is the epicenter of the fashion industry and wanting to succeed are the reasons behind the company’s largest and most important decision to open in New York. Zini's aim is to gain the trust and love of the American consumer, understanding that they are the most demanding in the world.” Glen & Co. Architecture current projects focus on the design, development, and implementation of several value-oriented hotel developments. Coben and his team continue to challenge hotel brand standards, redesigning them to meet the demands of urban locations such as in New York City. Recent work includes boutique Hotel Archer New York, David Burke Fabrick, the James Beard Award-winning Bâtard, Carbone, Empellón Al Pastor, a revamp of Empellón Cocina, and new fine dining restaurant Gabriel Kreuther.
