Gehringer of H2M elected Construction Specifications Institute Northeast region president

Ken Gehringer has been elected Northeast region president of the Construction Specifications Institute (CSI). He was elected by the CSI board and will serve a two-year term. The Northeast region of CSI, a national organization, whose mission to advance building information management and education of project teams to improve facility performance, consists of 15 chapters from New Jersey to Maine. As region president, Gehringer will serve as chairman of the executive committee and of the board, he will preside at all region meetings, he will appoint the chairman of standing and adhoc committees, he will be an ex-officio member of all committees except the region nominating committee, and sign all agreements and formal instruments on behalf of the region. The president is also responsible for visiting all region chapters within his two-year term. "CSI is unique in the sense that it is a multi-disciplined organization consisting of architects, engineers, specifiers, contractors, product representatives and facility managers [all] working together to improve the entire design and construction process. While we are best known for creating the MasterFormat specification standards we are also heavily involved in projects such as the National CAD Standard, GreenFormat and creating Building Information Modeling (BIM) standards, to name a few," said Gehringer. Gehringer has been working at H2M architects + engineers since January 1989 and is currently Senior Project Architect for H2M's private sector studio. At present, he is working on the Additions and Alterations Design of Mercedes Benz of Huntington and Mercedes Benz of Smithtown as part of Mercedes Benz USA corporate identity requirements. Gehringer holds a bachelor of science degree for Architectural Technology from New York Institute of Technology in Old Westbury, N.Y. He is a registered architect in New York State, a certified construction contract administrator and construction documents technologist. He is an active member of both the American Institute of Architects (AIA) and, of course, CSI. Gehringer is a resident of East Islip, Long Island, N.Y.
