Fried Frank counsels Weill Cornell Medicine in lease at 1334 York Ave.

Manhattan, NY Fried Frank acted as counsel to Weill Cornell Medicine in its agreement to expand its Upper East Side campus and research footprint with a lease of five floors at 1334 York Ave., the current home of Sotheby’s auction house. Located one block from Weill Cornell Medicine’s main campus, the site will add 200,000 s/f of dedicated research space making it the institution’s largest expansion since the Belfer Research Building opened in 2014. Laboratories in the new medical research center, which are expected to open in 2026, will include both dry and wet lab spaces and focus on a breadth of foundational, clinical and translational research, utilizing advanced data science and computational techniques to revolutionize scientists’ understanding of disease.
