Brentwood, NY For the fourth consecutive year, Forte Construction has partnered with Habitat for Humanity of Long Island. This year, Forte participated in the construction of a new home for a family of four.
The new 1,600 s/f home is particularly special because it marks Habitat Long Island’s first 3D-printed home on Long Island. This innovative project was made possible through the nonprofit’s collaboration with SQ4D, a Long Island-based 3D home printing company. Utilizing their Max Autonomous Robotic Construction System (ARCS), SQ4D helped construct the building onsite, showcasing the future of homebuilding.
Diane Manders, Habitat for Humanity of Long Island’s interim CEO/executive director, said “Our 3D-printed home in Brentwood is a groundbreaking achievement made possible through a collaboration with the Town of Islip, the Department of Housing and Urban Development, and SQ4D. This home represents a transformative step for our organization and the Long Island community.”
A team of 13 Forte employees and family members volunteered for a day. Work included caulking, painting, aluminum work, and the installation of window boxes. Forte vice president Jeffrey Cardillo, a master electrician by trade, assisted in the preparation of the home’s electrical closet installation.
“To be able to give back is a privilege that Forte Construction does not take lightly,” Cardillo said. “Habitat for Humanity offers the perfect opportunity for our team to make a significant difference in the lives of our fellow Long Islanders, utilizing the unique skills we have honed over decades of working in the construction and electrical field.”
Manders said, “We are deeply grateful for Forte Construction’s partnership over the past four years. Their dedication has enabled us to expand affordable housing opportunities and support even more local families. For future homeowners Starky, Carmen, and their two children, this home stands as a powerful symbol of sustainability, resilience, and a bright future. Together, we are building a stronger, more connected community.”
Forte Construction Corp. is known for its wide array of union construction projects, including infrastructure and public works for various municipal and state agencies. A prominent contributor to the enhancement of station accessibility and improvement of mobility for New York City’s ridership, the general contractor is currently working on the installation of over 150 elevators in the NYCT system.
Founded in 1976, Habitat for Humanity of Long Island operates locally to improve living conditions and advocate for policy reforms that remove barriers for low-income families. The nonprofit also educates new homeowners on home maintenance, repairs, and financial management to ensure long-term success.
A dedication ceremony for the new Brentwood home is scheduled for December 12th, marking a milestone for both Habitat Long Island and the Brentwood community.
