Fine of Gettry Marcus honored by NYSSCPA

According to Gettry Marcus CPA, P.C., Howard Fine has been honored by the New York State Society of Certified Public Accountants (NYSSCPA) - Nassau County Chapter, as he was awarded the "Distinguished Service Award,"by his peers at the 62nd Annual Installation Dinner on May 7th, at the Crest Hollow Country Club. The NYSSCPA Distinguished Service Award is bestowed on an individual who has distinguished themselves as a society leader and has given outstanding service to the society through dedicated service, publication, public service and other activities. As an involved member of the NYSSCPA, Fine was elected in 2007 to the executive board of the Nassau County Chapter, which he continued to serve on through 2014. Additionally, he co-chairs the sponsorship committee which is instrumental in raising funds to support CPE programs and college scholarships for accounting students. Fine was a past chairperson of the litigation support services committee and the cooperation with bankers and other credit grantors committee of the New York Society of Certified Public Accountants (NYSSCPA). In his role at the firm, Fine is the partner-in-charge of Gettry Marcus' accounting & auditing group and its employee benefit plan audit group. He also chairs the firm's employee relations committee. A resident of Dix Hills, Fine is also a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and National Association of Certified Valuators and Analysts. Additionally, he is an associate member of the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners. Mr. Fine donates his time to his profession and community through his participation in various organizations. He regularly lectures on financial literacy issues and is on the Committee of the Capital One Investing for Good Long Island Community Initiative: Financial Literacy Challenge. In addition, Mr. Fine is a volunteer at Sunrise Day Camp, the only dedicated free full summer day camp in the nation for children with cancer and their siblings.

When Environmental Site Assessments (ESA) were first part of commercial real estate risk management, it was the lenders driving this requirement. When a borrower wanted a loan on a property, banks would utilize a list of “Approved Consultants” to order the report on both refinances and purchases.
