New York, NY E.W. Howell, an industry leader in general contracting and construction management, has completed construction on a 4,000 s/f restaurant renovation for La Chine, a regional Chinese restaurant located in the historic Waldorf Astoria.

The restaurant features an abundance of specialty dishes from all over China with a unique French twist, as well as a seafood raw bar unlike any other. Unique design elements include black and gold high gloss lacquer panels, custom hand painted wallpaper and murals, custom chandeliers, light fixtures and laser cut metal screens.

E.W. Howell and The Waldorf Astoria have had a long-standing relationship collaborating on many projects over the past eight years. Some of these include the renovations of The Empire and Hilton Ballroom and the Bull & Bear Restaurant.

Project manager, Jehan Joonoos said, “La Chine is the perfect example of team work at its finest. Renovating a high-end restaurant space and kitchen in 7.5 weeks required everyone to step up and perform at their highest level. The Waldorf management team, design team and trades worked in concert to create this culinary masterpiece.”
