Donahue joins Meltzer, Lippe, Goldstein & Breitstone, LLP
The trusts and estates practice of Long Island's business law firm, Meltzer, Lippe, Goldstein & Breitstone, LLP (Meltzer Lippe) has added veteran Surrogate's Court referee and litigator, Sally Donahue, to its practice. Donahue has close to 20 years experience in the practice of trusts and estates, most recently as a court attorney-referee at the Nassau County Surrogate's Court. Meltzer Lippe managing partner Lew Meltzer made the announcement.
"Sally Donahue is ranked among the top echelon of Trusts & Estates litigators," said Meltzer. "She was closely involved with a tremendous variety of cases during her time at the Surrogate's Court. While in private practice, Sally tried cases in the Surrogate's and Supreme Courts and argued appeals in the appellate division. Her reputation among the attorneys and Judges is well deserved. We are extremely pleased to welcome her to the firm. She is a valuable asset."
As a court attorney-referee, Donahue presided over non-jury hearings; rendered rulings at depositions, conferenced cases; mediated cases to settlement, assisted the Surrogate at trial and prepared decisions and orders, stipulations, trial memoranda and jury instructions. Donahue will be concentrating her practice at Meltzer Lippe on trusts and estates litigation as well as accounting proceedings and guardianships.
For more than a dozen years prior to her tenure at the court, Donahue was an associate and then counsel at Farrell Fritz, P.C., where she concentrated her practice in trusts and estates, guardianships and commercial litigation. Donahue is a former law clerk to a federal Judge and a magistrate Judge in the Eastern District of New York.
Donahue graduated magna cum laude from Touro Law School, which she attended on a full three-year academic scholarship. A Dean's List scholar throughout the course of her studies, Donahue also won five American Jurisprudence Awards and first place in the American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers' Nathan Burkan Memorial Competition. She was also a notes and comments editor of the Touro Law Review. From 1991 through 1996, Sally taught legal ethics as part of Adelphi University's Lawyers'Assistance Program.
