CoreNet hosts "New York City in Transition" dialogue on November 7th

CoreNet Global New York City Chapter hosted a dialogue between mayor Rudy Giuliani and Ester Fuchs entitled, "New York City in Transition: Rudy Giuliani Provides Insights on Opportunities and Challenges Facing a New Mayor And Lessons Learned from the Past." The event was held on November 7th at the Grand Hyatt New York. Days after Democratic candidate Bill de Blasio won the 2013 New York City mayoral election, Fuchs, a Columbia University professor and public policy strategist, moderated a discussion with one of New York's most impactful former mayors, Rudy Giuliani. In this forum designed for the commercial real estate community, Giuliani illuminated the challenges and accomplishments of the Bloomberg era and offered his perspective on the city's future through the transition of leadership. Highlights included an exploration of Giuliani's career and how lessons learned may provide insight into an array of issues, from new economic growth to the increase of urbanization and the city's safety. His biggest advice to de Blasio: "Make New York City safe." The former mayor congratulated mayor Michael Bloomberg for his accomplishments, emphasizing his ability to keep the city safe and prevent terrorism, and encouraged de Blasio to build upon the foundation that has already been laid. "Tourism, students, the economy all depend on New York city being safe. Crime goes down, tourism goes up and that's good for economy." Giuliani concluded the program by expressing a positive and confident outlook for the future of New York City. This city "has been successful because it has been run like a business for the past twenty years. It started with me, and then Mike (Bloomberg)continued it. We have a different way of evaluating the city than most governments." The death of the generic offering memorandum: What buyers expect in 2025 - by Kimberly Zar Bloorian

There was a time when an offering memorandum (OM) was pretty bare bones, some photos, a few bullet points on income, and a rent roll thrown in at the back. That used to get the job done. Not anymore. In 2025, buyers are sharper, faster, and more selective. They’re looking
