Corenet Global NYC holds REmmy’s Gala at Casa Cipriani

Manhattan, NY The CoreNet Global New York City Chapter (CoreNet NYC) recognized the winners of the Annual 2023 Corporate Real Estate Awards for Excellence. These outstanding individuals and projects were celebrated at the first annual REmmy’s Gala event held on October 19, at Casa Cipriani. The gala brought together over 600 professionals from the corporate real estate industry.

Awards were presented in four distinct categories, recognizing excellence and influence within the corporate real estate sector. The judging panels for each category consisted of three judges, including experts from both the CoreNet NYC Chapter and other CoreNet Chapters around the world. The awards were presented by Linda Foggie, managing director, global head of real estate operations at Citi; Jaime Fuertes, managing director, global head of corporate services at Apollo Global Management Inc. and Larry Charlip, president of the CoreNet NYC Chapter.

Debra Cole, chair of the special events committee for CoreNet NYC said, “This year, the awards committee had the privilege of evaluating an array of exceptional nominations, throughout the New York City area. Each nomination was a testament to the remarkable talent that defines the corporate real estate industry. We are excited to announce that tonight’s Service Provider, CRE and Young Leader of the Year winners will be nominated for the Global Awards program in 2024, hosted by CoreNet Global.”

Corporate Real Estate Executive of the Year Winner: Philip Pitruzzello, managing director, BlackRock

Pitruzzello is an inspirational leader in the corporate real estate industry. He started his career in public service working as an assistant counsel to governor Mario Cuomo before embarking on the rest of his career in real estate. He has longtime served as a mentor to many and spends his free time serving the NYC community through many non-profit organizations including sitting on the board for the Bowery Residents Committee. During his career he oversaw development, design and construction for Columbia University’s 17-acre, $6 billion mixed-use campus in West Harlem, led Time Warner’s global real estate portfolio and recently was responsible for the development, implementation and execution of BlackRock’s New York real estate strategy delivering their new headquarters in Hudson Yards.

Service Provider of the Year Winner: Katie Nilsen, vice president, E-J Electric Installation Co.

Nilsen was selected due to her involvement in many industry organizations that work to support and uplift women including co-chairing for Nontraditional Employment for Women (NEW), chair and member of Design Build Institute of America (DBIA), board of directors for Professional Women in Construction and serving as a co-chair on the Council of Industry Women of the New York Building Congress. In addition, Nilsen has served on the Women’s Leadership Committee within CoreNet for the past three years. She is also an industry mentor, culture creator and leader within the industry.

Young Leader of the Year: Mike Martino, solutions engineer, CBRE 

Martino was selected for his leadership contributions both at work and in CoreNet, with proven participation, taking on responsibilities and delivering great outcomes for a young leader, to help move CoreNet forward. He most recently has been working on the strategic planning committee and developed a robust data and analytics dashboard for use by the CoreNet board and chapter to make better informed decisions to support the membership needs.

Project of the Year – 26,000 – 36,000 s/f: Arch Manhattan, IA Interior Architects 

Project of the Year – 37,000 – 50,000 s/f: 1 Willoughby Sq., FXCollaborative 

Project of the Year– 50,000 – 85,000 s/f: Mitsubishi Corp. (Americas), NBBJ 

Project of the Year– 86,000 – 150,000 s/f: City Harvest’s Cohen Community Food Rescue Center, Ennead Architects

Project of the Year– Over 300,000 s/f: BlackRock, NBBJ.
