City Tavern and Table opens at Durst’s 57 WEST

Manhattan, NY According to The Durst Organization, City Tavern and Table has opened at 57 WEST. The 6,864 s/f restaurant — located at the base of the Bjarke Ingels-designed VIA 57 WEST on West 57th St. between 11th and 12th Aves. – is offering fresh, local food and cocktails with a menu curated by Ed Cotton, the executive chef from the West Village eatery Jack and Charlie’s.

For the lease, The Durst Organization was represented in house by Eric Engelhardt and Nora Caliban and by Brad Schwarz, JP Sutro, and Morris Dweck from Lee & Associates NYC.

“City Tavern and Table is an ideal addition to the 57 WEST community,” said Jody Durst, president of The Durst Organization. “Located with prime visibility on the 57 WEST campus, the restaurant will become a beloved destination for residents of VIA, HELENA, and FRANK, and our neighbors.”

“Our restaurant was thoughtfully planned with our neighbors in mind as a go-to gathering spot they’ll want to visit again and again,” said Chris Coco of City Tavern and Table. “With desirable pricing, a variety of healthy options, and a warm atmosphere, we created an ideal place to enjoy delicious meals with families and friends.”

Patrons can experience an elevated, approachable menu, spotlighting diverse New American flavors, locally-sourced ingredients, and health-conscious dishes. The menu features salads and bowls, pizzas, entrees such as steak frites and steamed mussels, tavern classics including fish & chips, and table shares including grilled fish tacos and ten-spice chicken wings. The cocktail menu will feature libations crafted by seasoned mixologists including Craig Hutson from Jack and Charlie’s, along with wine, beer, and non-alcoholic options. The 260-person restaurant also offers a full-service bar, a private dining room, and outdoor seating.

The menu was created by Chef Ed Cotton who has collaborated with Chef Todd English at the Bellagio Hotel’s Olives and worked with NYC luminaries such as Daniel Boulud and Laurent Tourondel. A Culinary Institute of America graduate, Cotton has appeared on “Iron Chef America” and “Top Chef” Season 7. He is the executive chef at Jack and Charlie’s in the West Village and developed the food program at Leonetta on the Upper East Side.

City Tavern and Table joins a variety of retail tenants and amenities operating across 57 WEST including LOOK Die-In Cinemas; pupculture; Club Pilates; Anthology Wine & Spirits; Hudson Market; Soul Dental; F45 Training; Hopscotch Montessori School; Le Café Coffee; the Hospital for Special Surgery; and two parking garages. The 57 WEST campus has nearly 1,400 residential rental units across three buildings – VIA 57 WEST, FRANK 57 WEST, and HELENA 57 WEST. The Durst Organization offers complimentary shuttle service to Columbus Circle where the 1, A, B, C, and D subway lines provide citywide access.
