CIBS puts dispute mediation in spotlight

The Commercial Industrial Brokers Society of Long Island (CIBS) is putting the spotlight on its mediation program to help resolve disputes among its member brokers. The long-standing program allows brokers to air their disputes in a non-binding mediation process. In an effort to familiarize CIBS members about the process, board members played out a mock arbitration of a commission dispute at the September 15 gathering at the RXR Executive Center.

When Environmental Site Assessments (ESA) were first part of commercial real estate risk management, it was the lenders driving this requirement. When a borrower wanted a loan on a property, banks would utilize a list of “Approved Consultants” to order the report on both refinances and purchases.
