Woodbury, NY Executive board members of the Commercial and Industrial Brokers Society of Long Island (CIBS-LI), one of the region’s largest real estate advocacy organizations, presented a check in the amount of $5,000 to Long Island Cares at their annual summer gala last week. Long Island Cares—the Harry Chapin Food Bank has been on a mission to feed Long Island’s food insecure and stamp out the root causes of hunger since its founding by the late Harry Chapin in 1980.

“We are grateful that we could make this contribution to Long Island Cares,” said CIBS president Dan Wiener. “Over the years, CIBS has raised tens of thousands of dollars for Long Island non-profit organizations, giving back to the community in which we live and work. Through our many annual events we have been able to offer financial support to dozens of amazing organizations.”

According to Long Island Cares, CIBS’ donation represents 6,500 pounds of food which is 5,500 meals for those who are hungry or food insecure.

“We cannot thank the members of CIBS enough for their generosity,” said LI Cares CEO Paule Pachter. “Contributions such as these help our organization move closer to realizing our vision of a hunger free Long Island.”
