Manhattan, NY Chef Daniel Boulud said that reservations at his new Upper East Side institution, Café Boulud, are now available on Resy. The restaurant will reopen its doors on December 14 in a new location, 100 E 63rd St.

Named after the original Café Boulud started by his great-grandparents at his family’s home outside of Lyon, France, the brand carries a special significance for chef Boulud. He first opened Café Boulud in New York City in 1998 and has since expanded to locations in Palm Beach, the Bahamas, and Toronto, with a new Beverly Hills location expected to open next year.

Each location has its own interpretation of chef Boulud’s four key inspirations on their menus: La Tradition – the classic dishes of French cooking; La Saison – the seasonal specialties of the market; Le Potager – the vegetable garden; and Le Voyage – the exotic flavors of the world’s great cuisines.

“Being able to bring Café Boulud back to the Upper East Side for its 25th anniversary is a very meaningful moment for me,” said Boulud. “I’m excited to welcome back former guests to a new yet familiar-feeling dining room as well as introduce new visitors to the concept so they can experience our New York Restaurant rooted in French Art de Vivre.”

Café Boulud New York’s executive chef will be Romain Paumier, an alumni of the previous Café Boulud and most recently executive sous chef at Restaurant Daniel. The executive pastry chef will be Katalina Diaz, previously pastry executive sous chef at Restaurant Daniel.

“Café Boulud has such an important legacy, going back over 100 years with Daniel’s family in Lyon, and it also represents the future of our group as we grow in the US and internationally”, said Sebastien Silvestri, CEO of Dinex. “We are thrilled to re-open our New York flagship and once again have it be part of the vibrant Upper East Side dining scene.”

The space is designed by Jeffrey Beers International and features Art Deco and vintage accents such as etched glass, sculpted wrought iron and bronze, gilded copper, varnished woods, and polished stone.

The restaurant is opening in partnership with the hospitality division of BARNES International Realty. In addition to the reopening of Café Boulud, Maison BARNES will open in early 2024 offering additional dining experiences led by director Georgette Farkas, a Dinex Group alum who worked with the company for nearly 20 years.

Maison BARNES will be an ensemble of a bar, a dining salon and private dining rooms, as well as a speakeasy and a wine cellar table combining distinctive culinary experiences with artistic and cultural programs centered on craftsmanship and Art de Vivre. The space will create an intimate, salon-style experience intended to evoke the feeling of being welcomed into a private home. The menu will be distinct from Café Boulud’s while maintaining traditional French cooking techniques and seasonality.
