Busi promoted to CEO, global valuation & advisory at Cushman & Wakfield
According to Cushman & Wakefield (C&W), John Busi has been promoted to CEO, global valuation & advisory (V&A). Busi, who was named global head of the group in 2013, also serves on the firm's global management committee.
A 34-year veteran of the firm, Busi will continue to drive the strategic direction and execution of one of the most well respected real estate valuation practices in the industry, which consists of 700 professionals operating in 99 offices in 28 countries. V&A professionals quantify the current value and projected performance of real estate by leveraging extensive knowledge of sales and lease transactions, operating patterns and market cyclicality to enhance client decision making regarding risk assessment, investment options, capital allocation, and redeployment opportunities.
"John's promotion to CEO of global valuation & advisory recognizes his 'client only' approach to leadership, talent development and collaboration. He has created a differentiated service offering working with the world's largest investors and lenders to provide the most sophisticated knowledge involving complex real estate on a global scale," said Edward Forst, C&W's president & CEO.
In 2014, V&A completed appraisals with a record global value exceeding $1.2 trillion including some of the most significant acquisitions, financings and recapitalizations across the world.
Under Busi's leadership, the V&A group enhanced its platform by adapting to asset class specialization and introduced nearly 20 new specialty practice groups.
He also led the launch of a technology initiative and built an industry leading Quality Control platform.
As part of its commitment to provide a national tax advisory practice, V&A has built upon its existing property tax services and added a best-in-class proprietary tax management platform by acquiring substantially all the assets of Property Tax Resources, a leading advisory service based in Carlsbad, California, earlier this month and hiring the property tax team from Silver Oak Advisors of Atlanta in September 2014.
Busi joined Cushman & Wakefield in 1981 in the firm's Property Accounting Group in New York and in 1990 was promoted to head the New York V&A practice. In 2004, he assumed national oversight responsibilities where he was instrumental in doubling the firm's office network in the U.S. When he later assumed the role of Head of V&A for the Americas region, Busi was active in the continued globalization of the firm's management structure while guiding organizational growth in the Americas region.
Busi is a Designated Member of the Appraisal Institute (MAI) and a Fellow of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (FRICS). He is a former president of the Metropolitan New York Chapter of the Appraisal Institute and a past recipient of the Appraisal Institute's "Person of the Year" award. An associate Member of the Urban Land Institute, Busi holds a B.S. from Long Island University's School of Business Administration.
