June 09, 2014 - Upstate New York
A.O. Fox Memorial Hospital, located at 1 Norton Ave., held an open house for their new 14-bed observation unit, this unit is the final phase of A.O. Fox Memorial Hospital's "Gold Standard of Patient Care" modernization project, designed by MorrisSwitzer~Environments for Health. This $8 million medical/surgical inpatient renovation created 53 private rooms which provide privacy for patients, increase infection control, and improve patient flow throughout the hospital.
Patient-Centered design is a cornerstone of MorrisSwitzer's design philosophy and each room has independent climate control, a private bathroom with shower, and space for portable bed allowing family members to stay overnight with patients. Hospitality style interiors with wood flooring and upgraded entertainment systems are combined with the latest in medical technology to create a high level of care in a comfortable setting.
The 14 bed observation unit is designed to accommodate a range of patients with a variety of needs and acuity, as well as to specifically designed pediatric observation spaces. An updated family waiting area provides a place of respite for concerned families.
