Ashbery joins Ravi Engineering & Land Surveying as utilities designation manager

Rochester, NY After being featured in The American Surveyor (July 2015) for using conventional survey to introduce additional expertise and solutions, including digital terrain modeling, Ravi Engineering & Land Surveying, P.C. now offers subsurface utility designation and mapping services to its clients. Building upon the firm’s growing success in complementing its design and construction surveying with machine control modeling and 3-D digital stakeout services, the consulting engineering firm has hired Douglas Ashbery, a native of Albion, N.Y., as its utilities designation manager. Ashbery will develop and promote Ravi Engineering & Land Surveying, P.C.’s subsurface utility engineering (SUE) program, with the goal of enhancing the firm’s design and construction survey offerings, as well as work and cost efficiencies for its A/E/C clients and private developers. Used to accurately identify, characterize and map underground utilities during the development of a facility design and construction project, the utility designation process, when combined with records research and site survey, provides valuable information that can aid in making decisions on where to place design features to avoid conflicts with, and disruptions and damage to, existing utilities.
