AKF Group and In Posse have been retained as engineer and sustainable services consultant for the N.Y.C. Department of Education's first "Net Zero Energy" school building, PS 62R, to be built in the Woodrow neighborhood in District 3. AKF will provide mechanical and electrical engineering services and, through its subsidiary sustainable services company In Posse, will provide technical expertise related to the net zero energy aspects of the project. The landscape architectural consultant is Mark K. Morrison Landscape Architecture. Skidmore, Owing + Merrill, LLP was the designer of the project. Slated to open in 2014, the 70,000 s/f, 444-seat elementary school will be one of the few buildings anywhere to generate as much energy as it uses. Tags:
