What recent project, transaction, or accomplishment are you most proud of? I am incredibly proud of our team’s pro-bono work in the local community. We recently undertook a feasibility study for CHiPS, a food pantry in Brooklyn that provides housing for single pregnant mothers, to help the organization prioritize improvements to maximize efficiency post-pandemic. We’ve also partnered with the Bed-Stuy Gateway BID to develop design solutions for their Winter Wonderland, which has supported local small businesses and dozens of vendors annually since its 2020 debut.

Who inspires you most? What qualities do they possess that inspire you? Sharon Sutton, FAIA inspires me through her tenacity, dedication, and compassion as a fierce advocate for equity in addition to her boundary breaking career accolades.

Why should this nominee be recognized in our Women in Commercial Real Estate Spotlight? “As project manager, Dawne expertly navigated the stakeholder engagement process, materializing our vision for the preservation, revitalization and redevelopment of Buffalo’s historic Michigan Street African American Heritage Corridor. Dawne helped identify short- and long-term real estate and economic development guidelines and priorities to secure the community’s input for future development.” - Terry Alford, Executive Director at Michigan Street African American Heritage Corridor.

What are the most important factors women in your industry should consider when choosing a firm to build their career with? Your firm should foster a supportive environment, both internally by promoting growth and learning, and externally, by making a tangible impact on the community.
