2023 Women in Construction: Lisa Andrzejewski, Robinson & Cole LLP

Lisa Andrzejewski
Attorney
Robinson & Cole LLP

What was a pivotal point in your career? Like many lawyers who practice in this area, when asked why I became a construction attorney, my honest answer is I “fell into it”. After three and a half years of practice, and not knowing anything different, I decided to make a move by joining a firm focused on real estate law and land use. In less than six months, I realized that I made a mistake. I missed the energy, excitement and complexity of the construction industry. It was that career event which made me realize my passion for the AEC industry – and I haven’t looked back since.

Which professional associations or organizations would you recommend to women who are starting out in the AEC industry? While there are many incredible organizations in AEC, The New York Building Congress is perhaps my most recommended organization to join. Attendance at every meeting feels like a celebration and, in fact, it is – a celebration of the accomplishments of all who work in AEC in New York State and NYC. Networking with hundreds of talented individuals in a single venue is inspiring. Attend a single meeting and experience this first hand!

What is your favorite building in New York? Pick one? The Chrysler Building. Enough said.
