Jack Martins was the mayor of Mineola when the village first developed the overlay zone. As mayor, Jack spearheaded transformative initiatives that remodeled the downtown area into a transit-oriented development hub. Over the past 10 years, more than 2,000 housing units have been added, more than any other village outside of NYC. Relying on the village of Mineola’s overlay zone, the village board considered the site plan, variances, and architectural review avoiding the need for multiple hearings before multiple boards. The streamlined process allowed for a quicker decision and the application was presented and approved by the village board in one meeting. 

What recent project, transaction, or accomplishment are you most proud of?
I provided counsel to the developer of the $45 million Royal Blue Project located about a quarter mile from Mineola’s Long Island Railroad Station and helped guide this transit oriented development project to completion.
