2021 Year in Review: Jason Hoffman, Janover LLC

Name: Jason Hoffman

Job Title: Partner

Company Name: Janover LLC

What is the best advice you received in 2021, and who was it from?
The best advice I received was from a mentor and a client. They reminded me that any time in New York real estate history where there was an increase in vacancies and a decrease in rents, it was followed by some of the most profitable times. All challenges bring huge opportunity and those who were able to uncover those opportunities were the most successful. This gave me a new perspective for the last two years and enabled me to provide valuable advice to clients.

What was your greatest professional accomplishment or most notable project, deal, or transaction in 2021?
My greatest professional accomplishment in 2021 was assisting clients through the pandemic, which I continue to do. Many of them were faced with a challenging year in New York real estate in 2020 followed by another challenging year in 2021. Most of them needed to refinance with lower rent rolls and higher cap rates. We worked with banks and others to make sure clients not only stayed in business, but they were able to keep their assets and were set up to thrive in the future. Many clients have said our advice was pivotal in helping them weather the storm.
