How did you get your start in real estate?

Working with clients that were in the RE and construction fields

What real estate associations or organizations are you a member of?

CREW NY

What recent honor, achievement or recognition has meant the most to you and why?

I was awarded the Helen M. Garver Outstanding Achiever Award, given to the woman on the insurance industry that has had the biggest impact on helping women progress in their career, for success in the industry, for being a leader in the industry and for giving back to their communities. There were about 500 insurance executives in attendance and it was wonderful to be honored for so many contributions to our industry and for helping women be successful in a male dominated business and for charitable giving (both monetary and volunteer work).

What have been some of the benefits of being a mentor or having a mentor?

My proudest moments are seeing a person that you have mentored get ahead, get noticed, get rewarded for going above and beyond; for being a team player, for taking risk. Seeing them years later well on the way to a fruitful career that you helped to start or helped them progress.

What time management strategies do you find to be the most effective for you?

I recently learned to “own my calendar”. I have specific times of the week blocked off to work with my team on complex deals and claims situations. I block off Fridays to “deliver promises”. As I attend meetings all week I keep great notes and deliver everything I have promised, stress free, from my home office with a big pot of coffee. Before I “took control” I planned too many meetings and didn’t have the time to really be mindful and fully deliver things the way I wanted to deliver them. Once the time is carved out, you know when you get up what needs to be accomplished, you just do it. It’s also peace of mind telling people,” I’ll send it out to you on Friday” and not have to worry about when you’ll get it done.

What is the best advice you have received and who was it from?

Your reputation is your worth. Act with care and integrity, it’s a small world.
