09-24-2013 - ACE Mentor Program to host annual Fall Cocktail Reception

The ACE Mentor Program will host its annual Fall Cocktail Reception on Tuesday, September 24th at John Jay College of Criminal Justice, located at 524 West 59th St. The reception will showcase the recent expansion of John Jay College of Criminal Justice into its building, completed in 2011, in addition to celebrating the program's community of mentors throughout the greater N.Y. region. The event will include cocktails and hors d'oeuvres. The evening will begin with a reception at 5:30 p.m., which will be followed by a presentation at 6:30 p.m. Milo Riverso, president and CEO of STV and ACE greater N.Y. board chairman, will welcome guests, thanking mentoring firms and describing their impact in the growth of ACE. Mustafa Abadan, FAIA, design partner at Skidmore, Owings & Merrill, LLP, will discuss the design of the John Jay College of Criminal Justice project and his firm's participation in the ACE Mentor Program. Charles Murphy, senior VP of Turner Construction Co., will speak about his role in the completion of the College's new building, as well as Turner Construction's long standing relationship with the ACE Mentor Program. A member of the John Jay College of Criminal Justice community will discuss the design of the building and its significance to the College. The ACE Mentor Program is a unique partnership among construction and design professionals — architects, interior designers, landscape architects, mechanical, structural, electrical, environmental and civil engineers, construction managers, college and university representatives— who work together to attract young people to their professions. The ACE Mentor Program's fall cocktail reception is an annual event highlighting innovative construction and design projects around New York. Previous receptions showcased 7 World Trade Center, the New York Times Building, the Hearst Tower, the redesign of Alice Tully Hall and the Morgan Library & Museum.
