Bruce Mosler, chairman of Global Brokerage at Cushman & Wakefield, will be honored as the 2014 Founders Medalist at The Brooklyn Hospital Foundation's Founders Ball on June 10 at the New York Marriott at the Brooklyn Bridge. Dr. Patrick Leblanc, Director of Neonatology at The Brooklyn Hospital Center will receive the Foundation's Walter E. Reed Medal, named for the physician who began his career in public health as a resident at the hospital in the late 19th century.
"Our ability to keep Brooklyn Healthy and the future of the borough is contingent upon the quality of Brooklyn's health care and infrastructure," said The Brooklyn Hospital Center president and CEO Richard Becker MD. "Mr. Mosler and Dr. Leblanc exemplify this synergy, and we are proud to honor their accomplishments in voluntarism, philanthropy and service to the community."
A portion of proceeds from the Founders Ball will fund expansion and modernization of the emergency department at The Brooklyn Hospital Center.
Ofer Cohen, founder and president of TerraCRG, will serve as event chair. Honorary chairs include Robert Catell, chairman, Advanced Entergy Center at SUNY Stony Brook, former chairman and CEO of Keyspan, and former chairman, National Grid USA; and Brett Yormark, CEO of the Brooklyn Nets and Barclays Center. Founders Ball chairs include Dino Veronese of Fiduciary Trust Company International; Bernard Drayton of Last Minute Entertainment; and Maria Florini Ramirez of MFR Inc.
Mosler, who served as CEO for Cushman & Wakefield, the world's largest privately-held commercial real estate services firm, from 2005-2010, advises major tenants and global investors on strategic real estate matters and the optimization of real estate portfolios. Through his work for some of the world's most iconic properties, including 75 Rockefeller Center, the Reuters Building at 3 Times Square, and H&M's flagship store on Fifth Avenue, Mosler has been responsible for millions of square feet of leases with aggregate values over several billion dollars.
He currently serves as co-chairman of the board for The Intrepid Sea, Air and Space Museum and spearheaded Cushman & Wakefield's participation as a founding member of JP Morgan's 100,000 Jobs Mission for veterans. He also serves as Chairman of BENS (Business Executives for National Security); chairs the Wharton Executive Education Advisory Board; serves on the Real Estate Board of New York's Board of Governors; as well as the boards of many other charitable organizations.
In addition to his work as director of Neonatology at The Brooklyn Hospital Center, Dr. Leblanc has worked tirelessly to reduce pediatric mortality in third world countries though his work with PULSE (Pulse, Pediatric Universal Life Saving Effort) in Nepal and with Overseas Medical Assistant Team (OMAT) in Haiti. As a member of OMAT, Dr. Leblanc was among the first outside physicians to arrive in Port Au Prince after Haiti's 2010 earthquake. His ongoing work in Haiti is an extension of TBHC's mission to serve the people of downtown Brooklyn, including its large Haitian community. Born and raised in Port-au-Prince, Dr. Leblanc attended medical school in Haiti, completed a residency in Pediatrics at Harlem Hospital, and a neonatal fellowship at Downstate Medical Center.
In keeping with its nod to Brooklyn infrastructure, The Brooklyn Hospital Foundation's Founder's Ball will build "Good Deeds," a Monopoly-like board game with options to purchase real estate, brand monuments, and put a condominium on every corner.
