Zurblis of Nassau County Bar Association honored by International Association of Business Communicators - Long Island Chapter

Valerie Zurblis, director of marketing and public relations for the Nassau County Bar Association, has received the 2012 Long Island Achievement in Communications Award from the Long Island Chapter of the International Association of Business Communicators (IABC). The annual Achievement Award recognizes the region's most talented communications professionals. Nominees undergo rigorous judging by seasoned communicators from the Long Island business community. Zurblis was recognized as a professional who elevates the profession's public image and who serves as a role model for communicators. Zurblis, one of the region's most accomplished business developers, reputation managers and media relations experts, during her career has helped many Long Island businesses and organizations increase their public profiles and grow. At the Nassau County Bar Association, the largest suburban bar association in the country, Zurblis' comprehensive public relations campaigns have resulted in local, state and national recognition, primarily through the Bar's unique Mortgage Foreclosure Pro Bono Project, which provides free legal advice to homeowners facing foreclosure, and for BOLD (Bridge Over Language Divides), which incorporates foreign languages in all Bar Association services. A trailblazer, Zurblis was in the first class of women to graduate from the previously all-male University of Notre Dame. She is a founding member and past president of the Public Relations Professionals of Long Island; founding board member of the Executive Women's Golf Association-LI Chapter, and has served on many non-profit boards including the Long Island Advertising Club, Girl Scouts of Nassau County and United Way of LI Communications Committee.
