W&H Properties' 1350 Broadway awarded Energy Star certification

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has awarded the Energy Star certification to W&H Properties' 1350 Broadway, according to Anthony Malkin, president of Malkin Holdings, which supervises the W&H Properties portfolio. An Energy Star-certified building meets strict energy performance standards set by EPA and uses less energy, is less expensive to operate, and causes fewer greenhouse gas emissions than its peers. 1350 Broadway received a score of 87, indicating that it is a top performer. "This is the fourth W&H building to receive the Energy Star certification," said Malkin. "As we continue to roll out an ambitious program of energy efficiency throughout the nine-building portfolio, we continue to evaluate our performance and hope to bring more of our pre-war trophy office properties to qualify for this important certification." The program, which follows the retrofit model underway at the portfolio flagship Empire State Building, encompasses efforts to conserve energy, reduce water usage, recycle waste, and improve environmental quality. "Each Energy Star certification we attain is a milestone for us," said Malkin. "It confirms that we're on the right track and well on our way toward meeting our sustainability goals." Situated in the Broadway Office Corridor, across from Macy's flagship location, 1350 Broadway contains 25 stories and 400,000 s/f of modern office space.
