Stalco on-call CM for 778,000 s/f

CA, Inc., the world's leading independent IT management software company, retained Stalco Construction, Inc., as the on-call construction manager for renovation and capital improvement projects at the firm's 778,000 s/f global headquarters campus. The announcement follows the completion of Stalco's first project for CA, an 8,000 s/f interior fit-out of executive offices, meeting rooms, and teleconference facilities. "Stalco's on-call construction management assignment will encompass multi-phased interior renovations and other construction work at CA's global headquarters located at One CA Plaza in Islandia," said Stalco Construction principal Kevin Harney. Stalco's construction management responsibilities include assisting the architectural and design teams, performing value engineering and constructability analysis, preparing bid packages, supervising subcontractors, and managing all construction and post-construction activities. The initial phase of the new assignment includes a series of office fit-outs designed by TPG Architecture and Erkan Riza of CA Facilities Planning Department. Prior to receiving the construction management contract, Stalco served CA as general contractor for an interior renovation that included construction of four Tele-presence Rooms with teleconferencing capabilities, four conference rooms, and executive offices. The scope of the project included demolition, all interior finishes, and installation or relocation of MEP and sprinkler systems. The Stalco team coordinated all activities with CA's facilities management personnel and performed a significant portion of work outside of regular office hours in order to avoid any interruption of the client's operations. Stalco installed extensive dust and noise pollution protection measures throughout the work area. Any changes to the telecommunications and electrical infrastructure and wiring were completed by the beginning of each following workday. The work was phased to minimize the area unavailable to the client due to ongoing construction.
