Racanelli Construction Co. awarded $5.7m construction proj. for Sheltair West Hampton

Racanelli Construction Company, Inc. has been awarded a new construction project by Sheltair West Hampton, LLC. The project, valued at $5.7 million, will encompass the demolition of an existing one-story building at Francis S. Gabreski Airport and the construction of a new 5,000 s/f, one-story flight base office and 20,000 s/f, one-story hangar with tenant space. Racanelli, who is serving as the general contractor on the project, will also be relocating an existing fuel farm at the site to a new fuel farm. New electric for the site's runway/taxiway lighting system, as well as parking site lighting will be added, along with new landscaping and irrigation system, and storm and sanitary system. As part of its general contracting services for the Sheltair project, Racanelli is handling all preliminary approvals at the local and state levels. The company is procuring the subcontractor team, managing the entire design and construction process, coordinating all mechanical systems and energy requirements, commissioning the building, coordinating the turnover, training building staff, managing safety issues, and schedule and overseeing all site construction work The completed project will encompass a prefabricated metal building with concrete footings and foundation, fibercement siding, metal roofing, millwork finishes, and ceramic tile and carpet flooring. Overseeing the project are Michael Racanelli, Laurie Lozada and Dan Byrnes. It is scheduled for completion in the fall.
