Toren, Downtown Brooklyn's new residential tower, has passed several important milestones resulting in a successful completion. With the Temporary Certificate of Occupancy (TCO) in place, new residents have begun settling into their new homes and taking advantage of the buildings' many amenities. "We've been planning Toren with the greatest of care, detail and love and it's a thrill for us to see it come to life," said Joseph Ferrara, a partner with Donald Capoccia and Brandon Baron at BFC Partners, Toren's developer. Toren recently unveiled two fully-furnished model units, both two-bedroom, two-bathroom homes on the 20th floor of the 38-story tower, where the building's new sales and marketing office is now located, as well as an art gallery showcasing the work of talented local artists on a rotating basis. Located at 150 Myrtle Ave., the 240-unit condo is 50% sold and includes studios, one, two and three-bedroom apartments ranging in size from 442 to 1,967 s/f. The top eight floors of the tower consist of eight one-bedroom penthouse units and 24 duplex penthouse units of two- and three- bedrooms, featuring two-story living rooms and spectacular views from floor-to-ceiling windows. The silver-blue aluminum and glass façade building was designed by Skidmore, Owings & Merrill (SOM). Toren was named winner of three 2008 CNBC Americas Property Awards including Best Condominium New York, and Best High-Rise Architecture USA for its innovative and thoughtful green design. In 2009, the building was also selected a winner of the 2009 Design Excellence Awards presented by Multi-Housing News.
