The designers of Bravo's reality show Project Runway have moved: After three seasons of living at Atlas New York during the competition, this season, their new home is New Gotham, a 375-unit, 34-story, tower located at 520 West 43rd St. Both properties are part of Gotham's City, Gotham Org's. conglomerate of high-end buildings in New York City.
Along with the new digs, the overall apartment design has evolved: "The approach to the design of the apartments this year was first and foremost minimalistic," said production designer Katie Abiad, who has been decorating the contestants' apartments since Season One. "We kept the design simple and clean, avoided using shelves and hanging wall art to minimize clutter, but we had fun with the walls," she says, noting that the colorful walls depict bold stripes and stencil designs.
"Though the Gotham Organization has housed the contestants since the show's inception, this is the first season they lived at New Gotham," said David Picket, president of Gotham Org. "We are excited about the move within the Gotham community, and proud to have offered one of Manhattan's most hip buildings to the Season Four contestants. Like Atlas, New Gotham is a high fashion building, ideal for the designers of Project Runway to become inspired by their surroundings -- but also a relaxed, serene place they could call home."
