According to VHB, Bruce Mawhirter, P.E. has joined the firm as chief civil engineer. In his new position, Mawhirter, a LEED Accredited Professional, joins VHB's land development group, with responsibility for administering the quality assurance and quality control of engineering plans and design submissions. "Bruce is a highly respected and energetic professional who brings with him an exceptional level of civil engineering experience," said Robert Eschbacher, principal, VHB. Mawhirter earned his bachelor of Engineering degree, with a specialization in Environmental Engineering, from Hofstra University. He is a Licensed Professional Engineer in the State of New York and is active in several professional organizations including the National Society of Professional Engineers, where he served as president of the Nassau Chapter; the Design Professionals Coalition of Long Island; American Society of Civil Engineers and American Public Works Association. He is listed in Who's Who in Science and Engineering. He is also a member of the re-codification committee for the Incorporated Village of Malverne and previously served on the village's parking and downtown revitalization committee.
