What was your greatest professional accomplishment in 2012? : During 2012, we expanded our provision of integrated services, providing our clients with planning and site and traffic engineering services. We also expanded the collaboration between our White Plains office and other VHB ofices in the region and along the East Coast, providing our expertise in land planning, economic analysis and housing development on projects outside our base in the Hudson Valley and Long Island. And, we imported environmental and engineering expertise from other VHB offices to serve our local clients.
What was your most notable project, deal or transaction in 2012? : Working for the City of White Plains, we prepared a major Generic Environmental Impact Statement for the City's proposed new Open Space Recreation District. This proposal drew a high level of interest from a range of local property owners and civic groups with multiple concerns. Our analyses have contributed to helping focus the public debate on the key issues involved and on the alternative development scenarios for the City's major remaining open space properties. The document will help the City to make an informed decsision on this proposal.
What are your predictions for commercial real estate in 2013? : 2013 should see a continuation of the strengthening of real estate markets in the New York area that we experienced in 2012. I expect that developers and lenders will remain cautious going forward and that projects will proceed incrementally, with funds being expanded only when builders and investors are confident that the market and political climates remain positive.Signs point to residential development leading the way, particulalry rental units and age targeted or restricted developments. Retail also appears to be garnering interest.
What are your resolutions for 2013? : Professionally: to expand my participation in local business and professional organizations in order to better promote VHB's integrated services in the Hudson Valley
Personally: to focus on balancing my professional, avocational and family interests and activities
