Ted Moudis Associates (TMA) has won "Best Use of Labels" in the 17th annual Canstruction event according to Ted Moudis, A.I.A., the firm's founder and senior principal.
The structure was a zigzag wall with images of the Beatles on all 4 sides and was titled "We get by with a little help from our friends." The team had come up with this concept because they wanted to design a wall which can be viewed from 4 sides and since everyone is a Beatles fan this seemed like the perfect solution. The structure was made up of approximately 5,000 tuna cans.
Canstruction is an international charity competition where architects, engineers and contractors compete to design and build giant structures made entirely from full food cans. The cans were on display for the public to view in the World Financial Center from November 12-23 and at the close of the display all of the food was donated to the Food Banks of New York City.
