Joshua Muss, principal of Muss Development LLC has been honored by the Queens Chamber of Commerce as the 2009 recipient of its Lifetime Achievement Award. The award was presented at the chamber's annual reception at Terrace on the Park in Flushing Meadows-Corona Park.
Over the span of years, company principals have completed the construction of well over 15 million s/f for Muss Development projects. Early projects spanned the borough including housing, retail and commercial construction in Beechurst, College Point, Astoria, Bayside, Jackson Heights, Jamaica and Forest Hills. More recent and current development and construction encompass over six million s/f, including a 20-acre waterfront community in South Staten Island; the Oceana Condominium and Club, a 950-unit mid-rise condo complex on the ocean in Brighton Beach; several locations in Manhattan; and Brooklyn Renaissance Plaza, including the New York Marriott at the Brooklyn Bridge.
"It is extremely gratifying to be recognized for what we have done in the past," said Muss. "At the same time, we look ahead at all that is still left to be accomplished. Muss Development is in the home stretch of our biggest and most exciting project yet - Sky View Parc - which will be a boon for Flushing, for Queens and for the city of New York. We look forward to celebrating its grand opening in the very near future."
The project will begin opening in January, when the first residential tower, which is 70% sold, will be occupied. The first store, BJ's Wholesale Club, is expected to open in the 800,000 s/f Sky View Center shopping mall in late January.
Aside from the daily activity of a most challenging business, the Muss family has assumed leadership roles in industry, civic and charitable causes in the communities in which they develop and where they live.
