Levien & Co. to oversee construction of 65,000 s/f facility for Village Care of New York

December 4, 2009 - Owners Developers & Managers
Project management firm Levien & Company has been retained to oversee the construction of the new facility for Village Care of New York, a community-based not-for-profit organization serving frail patients with complex needs. Located at 214-218 West Houston St., the project includes the construction of a new six-story residential rehabilitation and long-term skilled nursing facility that meets LEED-Silver (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) certification standards and that provides a modern and forward-looking environment for its residents. The 65,000 s/f 105-bed facility will house a physical rehabilitation room, a meditation/yoga room overlooking a central landscaped courtyard, dining and common areas on each floor and a rooftop deck. "Village Care wants to provide their residents with a state-of-the-art facility in an environment that feels as home-like as possible," said Daphne Poser, project manager at Levien & Co. "By building the new center from the ground up, Village Care has the ability to tailor the space to the specific needs of its programs and diverse clientele. And as a LEED candidate, it can meet those needs in an environmentally friendly manner." The project team that Levien & Co. is managing includes Perkins Eastman as architect, Goldstein Associates as structural engineer, AFK as mechanical/electrical/plumbing engineer and Marco Martelli Associates as general contractor. The project is scheduled for completion in August of 2010.
