Hartz Mountain Industries leased 117,680 s/f at 397 East 54th St. to Home Delivery America, a leader in home delivery, distribution, warehousing and logistics. Founded by owner, chairman and CEO Richard Merians in 1965, Home Delivery America provides third-party home delivery, distribution, and warehousing services for large products, which include furniture, appliances, large electronics, exercise equipment, and bedding. Notable clients include GE, Sears, The Home Depot, Bob's Discount Furniture, Sleep Savvy, LG, Maytag, and Whirlpool. Merians said, "Being based in Secaucus, N.J., Home Delivery America has become accustomed to the advantages of having warehouse space in north Jersey. Location and highway access are critical to our business, and here in Elmwood Park, we have both at a good price." The Home Delivery America Elmwood Park hi-tech facility will be one of the largest home delivery operations out of a single building in the U.S. It will have a capacity to exceed one hundred delivery trucks per day. 397 East 54th St. is an industrial building with an attached office component. The building is situated near Rte. 46, I-80, and the George Washington Bridge.
