Spotlights
I joined Massey Knakal's Queens office in 2000 as a part-time assistant to managing partner Thomas Donovan. Simultaneously, I attended school full-time at Fordham University and after about a year and a half, the partners were at a point where they were ready to bring on a full-time recruiter. Rather than do an external search, they presented me with the job. Their confidence enabled me to take on the challenge and I haven't looked back since. It has been an exceptional seven years.
Being the first person a candidate meets and having them trust what you say and what the company stands for is truly gratifying. To see someone commit to the firm and dedicate themselves to building their career and then watch their efforts flourish into a high level of success is a great reward.
Like a man, I expect great accomplishments from women. Although the commercial side of the real estate industry may be male dominated, some of the most intelligent, capable, result-driven colleagues of mine are women. Each of our offices have extraordinary women making impressive contributions to the success of the operation.
My advice to women is to stay focused and determined. Any individual who has the drive and determination will thrive in this industry. The effort you put into your career will determine the results you get out of it. There are so many bright individuals within the industry to learn from so if you're fortunate, like myself, you will continue to grow and further enhance your career.
