State of Israel Bonds' Real Estate and Construction Division will honor William Macklowe, chairman and CEO of Macklowe Properties, at its annual luncheon on Thursday, Nov. 5, at 11:30 a.m. at The Pierre. Macklowe will receive the Israel Peace Medal "for his ongoing leadership in the Israel Bonds program to strengthen Israel's economy," said campaign chairman Kent Swig of Swig Equities and Terra Holdings. Alan Dershowitz, noted attorney, author, and professor of law at Harvard University, and Israel Bonds president and CEO Joshua Matza will speak at the luncheon. It is the one of most successful industry events in the organization's history, producing nearly $1 billion in bond sales. Peter Kalikow of H.J. Kalikow & Co., Harry Macklowe of Macklowe Properties, Burton Resnick of Jack Resnick & Sons, Samuel Rosen-blatt of Olmstead Properties, Larry Silverstein of Silverstein Properties, and Daniel Tishman of Tishman Realty & Construction Co. are serving as luncheon chairmen. Vice chairmen are Jerry Cohen of Tishman Speyer, James Emden of CB Richard Ellis, Paul Ingrassia of Citibank, Samuel Lindenbaum of Kramer Levin Naftalis & Frankel, Scott Shay of Signature Bank, and Robert Sorin of Fried Frank Harris Shriver & Jacobson. James Migliore and Sheldon Werdiger of Macklowe Properties are coordinating chairmen. Since joining Macklowe Properties in 1993, Macklowe has played a vital role in building the company his father Harry Macklowe founded 45 years earlier. Today, he is responsible for all of its major operations, including development, commercial leasing, acquisitions, finance, managing lender relationships, strategic partnerships, and alternative investment ventures. Macklowe has been active in Israel Bonds for over 15 years. He has served for over a decade on the Real Estate Division's executive committee and is also a member of the president's club, an honorary society of individuals who have made bond purchases of $100,000 or more in a single year.
